Mission
Founded in the fall of 2021, Helping Vision's goal is to improve the lives of the visually impaired. We plan to do so by providing blind communities and schools with AI-assisted technology in order to help them better navigate and decrease the amount of time it takes them to complete their everyday tasks.
What We Do
Banking
Figuring out the denominations of currency can be a huge problem for the visually impaired. Although some countries have different sizes and colors for the various bills, others, such as the United States, do not. Current solutions for this are priced at hundreds of dollars, and are expensive for many. As a result, we have created an affordable yet accurate bill detector, with a cost of just over 30 US dollars.
Shopping
In order to identify price tags and items, we plan to create an affordable device that will be able to help those who are visually impaired navigate their ways around stores, thus creating a better shopping experience for them.
Transportation
Transportation is a huge place in our lives, however, moving from one place to another is not as easy as it sounds. The visually impaired often need someone to help them travel to different locations. However, we want to make this process more independent. We plan to create and distribute technology that will inform the user of different modes of transportation around them in order to reach a specified destination, using geolocation.
